1) Does Doubles do a byte-for-byte comparison on each file?

Doubles compares files using a sophisticated algorithm which is much faster than doing a blind byte-for-byte comparison on everything, but before reporting any duplicate files Doubles does a byte-for-byte comparison to be certain that any files reported as being identical are identical (and files not reported as being identical are not identical).
